Oakes Bros Announce the Purchase of William Wheatley (Wickham) Ltd

Oakes Bros Ltd announce the purchase of the assets of William Wheatley (Wickham) Ltd. After lengthy negotiations, this deal, which is the next step in Oakes Bros’ development plan, was finally concluded last week.

The purchase of the Wheatley business brings with it the prestigious Case IH and JCB franchises which will continue to be retailed from the Wickham branch. This part of the business will trade as "Oakes Landpower", a newly created and wholly owned trading style of Oakes Bros Ltd, in which many of the existing Wheatley team will continue to play key roles.

Oakes Landpower has extensive coverage for both the Case IH and JCB agricultural products, including Quadtrac, Fastrac and Loadall, and will be delivering service across the southern tip of Oxfordshire, the majority of Berkshire and all of Hampshire.

Overall, the Oakes Group now covers an area from South Oxfordshire to the South Coast and across to Mid Sussex, effectively having doubled its geographical coverage in two years, and offers New Holland, Case, JCB, Simba Horsch and Kuhn alongside many other major brands.

The smaller Alton branch of the Wheatley operation will incorporate New Holland product support from the outset; although we would like to reassure all existing Case users in this area that Case product will be continue to be fully supported with local parts and service availability.

Oakes Bros’ Managing Director, Edmund Lindley, who has spearheaded the growth of Oakes Bros in recent years, commented:

"Our continued growth means we can continue to improve the service to our customers, offering them better in field support and a greater choice of products for today’s farm business."

This latest move is fully supported by both Case IH and JCB. Steve Smith, Case IH Southern Region Business Manager called the move an exciting development for the Case IH brand…reinforcing sales, service and parts commitment in the South. Commending the Oakes customer service pedigree already firmly established with the New Holland franchise, he added that the company’s enthusiasm will help farmers in the area maximize the return on their machinery investment.

Oakes Bros Ltd, who, this year, celebrate 180 years of trading , look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to the Wickham and Alton branches.

Oakes Bros Announce Purchase of Sussex Tractors’ Horsham Depot

Oakes Bros Ltd announce today the conclusion of the purchase of the Sussex Tractors branch at Horsham.  The deal was finally concluded after legal details were completed last week.  For Oakes Bros Ltd, this is an important move in what is very much part of a structured expansion plan.  The Horsham depot will be headed up by Branch Manager Clive Charman, who leads a capable and highly experienced team, all of whom will be familiar faces to Horsham customers.

Edmund Lindley, Managing Director of Oakes Bros, who also farms in South Yorkshire, commented on the expansion:

“In a difficult market, our plan is to ensure a sustainable future through expansion and investment…just like many farms.  With this expansion come economies of scale, and the customer will benefit directly from the depth of our investment in service and back-up.”

New Holland have given their wholehearted and active support to this move, which will reinforce the New Holland brand across the South, the Sussex Tractor branches at Uckfield and Lingfield branches having been purchased by Maidstone based Haynes Brothers Ltd.

Michael Campbell, the previous owner, who has invested so much of himself in the development of the Sussex Tractors business, assured customers saying:

“I have of course given some considerable thought to these important moves and I am confident given the financial security and long established traditions of both Haynes and Oakes, that the new owners of the company will continue to offer an outstanding service to all our customers.”

Oakes Brothers, who celebrate their 180th birthday next year, look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to the Horsham branch, for whom the most noticeable change will be to the name above the door.

SANTANA GETS THE THUMBS UP AT THE CLA GAME FAIR

Visitors to this year’s CLA Game Fair event at Blenheim Palace, may well have had to look twice at the “is it a Land Rover or not?” Santana PS10 displayed on the Oakes Bros stand at the show.  Keen for some user comment from someone who knows their off-road vehicles, Oakes took the opportunity of lending another of their demonstrator Santanas to Charles Benson, the Site Manager at the Game Fair.

After using the vehicle for several days, Charles commented that it was

"A good, solid vehicle…a serious contender in the utility 4x4 market.”
